The local administration in Chunian has announced strict regulatory measures to ensure price stability and market discipline during the holy month of Ramadan. Assistant Commissioner Chunian, Ghulam Mustafa Jatt, stated during a press briefing that official price lists issued by the Punjab government will be strictly enforced, and no vendor will be allowed to exceed the approved rates.
According to the administration, essential food items, meat, fruits, and vegetables must be sold within the officially notified pricing framework. Dedicated monitoring teams have been formed to conduct daily inspections across commercial areas and wholesale markets. These teams will review the public display of official price lists, verify weighing standards, assess product quality, and ensure compliance with hygiene requirements.
Officials emphasized that market stability during Ramadan is essential to maintaining economic balance and protecting consumers from undue financial burden. The administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward artificial price manipulation, stock hoarding, and exploitative commercial practices. Violators will face legal action, including fines, closure of business premises, and other enforcement measures under applicable regulations.
The Assistant Commissioner highlighted that transparent and fair commercial practices contribute to sustainable urban economic activity and strengthen investor and public confidence in regulated market environments. He urged the business community to cooperate with authorities and uphold ethical standards to ensure uninterrupted supply and fair access to essential goods during Ramadan.
Residents have also been encouraged to report overpricing or unfair practices to the relevant authorities, enabling timely intervention and ensuring a fair and orderly commercial environment across Chunian.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur, Muhammad Isa Khan, has announced the allocation of residential plots for the families of 20 police officials who were martyred prior to 2017. The initiative is part of an expanded welfare program aimed at providing long-term housing security and financial stability to the families of fallen personnel.
In this regard, a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Afira Zubair Foundation, ensuring structured support and transparent implementation of the housing distribution process. Officials stated that the initiative reflects the department’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of police martyrs by securing dignified living arrangements for their families.
DPO Muhammad Isa Khan emphasized that the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty remain a lasting legacy for the department. He stated that providing residential support is not only a welfare measure but also a recognition of the courage and dedication demonstrated by the martyrs. The housing allocation is expected to offer sustainable relief and social security to the affected families.
Additionally, as a gesture of respect and remembrance, the department has decided to renovate 12 graves of martyrs with white marble. The restoration work will enhance preservation, appearance, and long-term maintenance of the burial sites, symbolizing institutional respect for those who laid down their lives in service.
Police officials noted that such initiatives strengthen morale within the force and reaffirm the department’s resolve to stand by the families of its martyrs. Authorities have reiterated that further welfare-oriented measures will continue to be explored to ensure ongoing support for bereaved families across the district.

A multi-billion-rupee development package, described as the largest in Murree’s history, has been approved during a special meeting chaired by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at Government House Murree. The meeting reviewed the comprehensive Murree Development Plan, focusing on upgrading tourism infrastructure, improving civic facilities, and strengthening the region’s long-term economic and structural capacity.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb briefed participants on ongoing and proposed initiatives, highlighting plans to transform Kotli Sattian into Punjab’s newest modern tourism hub. The chief minister approved 14 tourism development schemes for the area, including the construction of a chairlift system, an eco-friendly glamping pod village and resort, Punjab’s first modern paragliding centre, and a sky glass bridge designed to enhance visitor attraction and tourism-related investment activity.
As part of regional connectivity improvements, the meeting approved the extension of the Murree Glass Train project from Islamabad Airport to Muzaffarabad. The project includes a 40-kilometre route from Lake View Park to Murree Bus Stand, with bidding for the monorail component scheduled to open in March. These transport initiatives are expected to strengthen access to tourism zones and facilitate greater visitor inflows.
The participants also agreed to establish a dedicated department for the preservation and restoration of Murree’s historic and cultural structures. Restoration work will ensure that heritage buildings are maintained according to their original design, supporting the conservation of architectural identity while enhancing tourism value. Additionally, a hotel complex will be developed through a public-private partnership at a designated location, expanding hospitality infrastructure and supporting tourism-driven economic activity.
Authorities reported that unauthorized multi-storey structures affecting the natural landscape along key areas including Mall Road, Hall Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road have been removed. These areas are being converted into public parks and green spaces, while road expansion work has been completed in Upper Jhika Gali to improve traffic flow and accessibility. Restoration of 23 buildings and 76 commercial units on Mall Road has also been completed, contributing to improved urban functionality and commercial continuity.
Infrastructure upgrades remain a central component of the development plan, with construction and rehabilitation of 70 roads completed across Murree and adjoining areas, while 120 additional roads are currently under development in the second phase. A principled decision has also been taken to upgrade Rawalpindi, Murree, and Kashmir Road into modern highways, strengthening regional connectivity and supporting long-term growth.
Water management improvements were also highlighted, with the first phase of a rainwater harvesting system completed, benefiting local residents through improved water supply. The second phase is expected to extend benefits to approximately 3,000 additional households. Civic service improvements include the establishment of a 50-bed hospital in Bhurban and continued modernization of the Patriata chairlift.
